How did you attract/address your audience?

No advertisement was done to draw audiences in or let them know that the thriller was being made. The only thing that was done to get the audience involved was a questionnaire that i created. I created a questionnaire for numerous people to fill in to give their input and feedback into what would make a good thriller and other relative topics. Once all of their answers were in I looked at the results and used their decisions to help shape my own thriller. I feel this helped make my opening scene the best it could be as it includes a lot of the things that most people want in a thriller.

 What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

For my project I used 2 new programs, Adobe premiere pro and Photoshop, these two programs where vital in editing and creating still images for my opening scene. I used Photoshop to create the logo for the company I made up to “make” my movie. Insanity Entertainment is this company that I made up and their logo was also a product of my imagination. So I used Photoshop to create the logo. The main image in the logo is from the internet but I added the black background text and the shadow within the logo. Adobe premiere pro to piece my movie together. All of the clips were filmed separately so I needed to cut them down and put them into the correct order. As well as editing my clips I added some background music. This is something new that I had to learn to do. It worked out great as I feel the music makes the movie better by changing the tempo of the opening scene.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Feelings thrillers create-

·         Excitement

·         Suspense

·         Anticipation

·         Anxiety

·         Uncertainty

·         Nerve wracking tension

How these feelings are incorporated into my opening scene. My opening scene I feel took suspense as its main feature. I feel this is the most important conventions to a thriller. Therefor I chose to really try and create suspense. My actor’s facial expressions created an uneasy atmosphere on screen which in turn created vast amounts of suspense. Anticipation is also key in my opening sequence as the audience can see the main character drag a bin bag across the kitchen floor. Until the bag is opened the audience is left to question what is in the bag.

Main character-

The main characters in thrillers are usually the person trying to solve the mystery whether it be a murder or any other crime. However in my opening sequence the main character was the murderer themselves. Usually the main character is a middle aged male, I challenged this convention by choosing a young child as my main character. Still male but their young age can confuse the audience all while giving them chills as children in thrillers can stereotypically spooky.

Costumes-

Thrillers tend to be dark and the characters outfits usually match up to this. Again I challenged this convention by having my opening scene very bright. His outfit matched this. I tried to create a feeling of normality and to do this I had my character dressed in normal everyday clothes that we would typically be worn by a young boy. His outfit creates a sense of innocence as he appears to be a normal child from his appearance.

Lighting-

Typical lighting in a thriller tends to be dim or dark lights. This is the case as the darkness can hide the characters and create questions amongst the audience as they cannot clearly see the character. However in my opening scene I used normal lighting.by this I mean the lighting was bright and clear. Allowing the audience to see the character fully. This is different to most thrillers. This was done to create a feeling of normality within the opening scene as I did not what it to be clear straight away that there was perhaps something wrong with the character.

Actor Name- Samuel Bowers
Age- 10
Extra Infomation- Samuel is my little brother. I chose to use Sam as my actor as i wanted a child to be the main character. Samuel was perfect for the role as he loves acting and being the centre of attention. his facial expressions created an uneasy atmosphear and helpped tell the story of a "Young Killer"
